Iowa Marriage Laws

Both persons apply in person with a picture ID and social security numbers and pay the fee in cash. Bring one witness.

There is a 3 day waiting period. You don't have to be a resident of Iowa. If you were married before, you'll need a divorce or death certificate. The license is valid for 6 months.

There are no marriages by proxy. Persons age 16 - 18 need parental consent. Legal age to marry is 18 in Iowa.
