Delaware Marriage Laws

A driver's license or birth certificate and social security numbers are required for ID.

Application is made in person by both people, and the fee is paid in cash. A marriage license is valid for 30 days and can only be used in Delaware.

You do not have to be a resident of Delaware. There is a 1 day waiting period for license issuance unless both persons are not residents of DE, then the waiting period is 4 days.

No tests are needed. Both persons must be age 18 to apply for a marriage license.

If you have been married before, you'll need a certified copy of the divorce decree. There are no proxy marriages.
